Thailand is strengthening its manufacturing sector, with notable growth in the automotive, electronics, and renewable energy industries. As the country becomes an emerging hub for automotive production, the demand for permanent magnets-particularly for use in electric vehicle (EV) motors-is rising. The electronics industry, a major component of Thailand’s industrial landscape, also depends heavily on these magnets for applications such as motors, sensors, and audio equipment.
In addition, Thailand’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity, especially in wind energy, is further boosting the need for magnets used in wind turbines. The nation’s broader shift toward green technologies is expected to significantly increase demand for permanent magnets in the coming years.
To meet this growing demand, manufacturers are scaling up their operations in Thailand. For example, Arnold Magnetic Technologies has expanded its global presence by opening a new 26,250-square-foot facility in Amata City, Chonburi. Operational since October 2024, the facility produces a range of permanent magnet assemblies, including rotors, stators, and motors, contributing to the market's growth in the region.
